Can a Jacket Change Your Life?
Is There Sugar in Syrup? THEN, YES!
aka - The answer is yes.
Yes, a jacket can change your life if you're as wild about anything embellished, bedazzled and EXTRA as I am. If not, then you may just want to skip this post and check out my other posts today, here. They aren’t as OVER THE TOP as this one. If we're being honest though, this jacket also makes an appearance in some of those posts so prep yourself accordingly. ;-)
The Back Story
I'd like to tell you a story about love at first sight. (No, this isn't about my marriage. LOL) This is about me and this Pearl Denim trucker jacket I purchased at Anthropologie last month. Last month, as in October. BUT I saw this gem for the first time while doing a little (these are meant to serve as air quotes, not actual quotes because we all know I just used that weekend as an excuse to go shopping, My ass isn't going back to school yet...) "back to school shopping" in August during tax free weekend at the St. Johns Town Center in Jacksonville, Florida.
This jacket was sitting on a table and my heart immediately skipped a beat. I. NEEDED. IT. Then I picked up the jacket and saw the price tag and knew my other love at first sight story would come to an end (yes, that is a reference to my husband) if he knew how much I paid for a non-functional, simply for fashion jacket. So for once in my life, I made an adult decision to wait it out. It was a hard life for two months. I woke up dreaming about the jacket. I had the opposite of buyer's remorse. I felt like a piece of my soul was missing. (BTW, I obviously like to be dramatic about my clothing in my closet so know that I honestly don't think this jacket filled an empty hole in my soul or made me a better person BUT I wanted it. REAL. BAD.)
Cue October...once again I went bebopping around the St. Johns Town Center so I decided to venture into Anthropologie. AND GUESS WHAT? They had one jacket left. My size. On a mannequin. On Sale. It was like God was speaking to me through shopping.
Yes, I Bought It
I'm sure that sub-header is slightly anticlimactic because it's obvious from pictures that I purchased it. AND I’ve worn it. A LOT. Probably more than an adult should wear a bedazzled denim jacket BUT I’M JUST LIVING MY LIFE. Let me do me. :-)
Living the Embellished Life
Listen, this strong shoulder look isn't for everyone, BUT I LOVE pearls, gems, sparkles, etc. so I waned it and knew I’d get more use than the average person out of it. (Sorry, I’m not sorry.)
If you're hesitant because you feel like it's too unique of a piece for your closet, think again. It is actually quite versatile. I've worn mine with this jumpsuit, culottes, a red jumpsuit, joggers, and yoga pants. (That's right...yoga pants.)
Jumping for Joy
It's clearly a trend I'm loving. Jumpsuits. I can't get enough of them thanks to Rent the Runway. In this look, I wore this great Cushnie Et Ochs jumpsuit. It is magic.
If you've never worn anything by Cushnie before, you are seriously missing out. The price point to own a Cushnie Et Ochs is UP THERE, but affordable to the normal chick if you use Rent the Runway. They are amazing designers who understand the female body and make high quality, sturdy pieces that ensure you always look your best without a ton of effort.
My Thoughts
This particular jumpsuit is far from basic thanks to the one shoulder asymmetrical top. It also does wonders for your ladies, ladies. :-) My only knock on this one is if you're rocking a lot of junk in the trunk (like me) it is a smidge snug on your bum. I certainly wore it and functioned just fine, but I would be concerned about sitting for too long in it or trying to wear it out dancing with your girls. MIGHT SPLIT THE BUTT. But don't let that detour you. Try it in two sizes and you might find that the tightness in the booty won't slow you down. (The perkiness of the girls in it may outweigh your fear of ripping it up. ;-)
If you don't want to rent and would like to just buy a high-quality black jumpsuit like this one, shop the links below. I found a great option at Dillard's that you'll love!

You'll Have to Pry this Jacket Off my Dead Body
I've said it several times before, BUT I LOVE THIS JACKET. I will not stop wearing it. I never stopped wearing embellishments and bedazzled items when it wasn't trendy and now that it is back I. AM. HERE. FOR. IT.
